A Different Kind of Grooming Experience

Porchlight serves North Seattle as an owner-operated mobile dog grooming service, offering consistent, low-stress care directly outside your home. Built to offer an alternative to traditional grooming salons, one that prioritizes calm, consistency, and respect for each dog as an individual.

Grooming at Porchlight is approached as ongoing care, not a transaction.

Who Porchlight Is For

Porchlight is designed for dog families who want grooming to feel calm, predictable, and easy, for both themselves and their dogs.

We serve:

  • Busy households and work-from-home clients who value convenience and reliability

  • Dogs who are anxious, aging, or sensitive to noise and busy environments

  • Senior dog owners and households navigating mobility limitations

  • Families who appreciate consistency, clear communication, and professional care

  • BiPOC, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and differently abled households seeking a respectful, welcoming experience

If traditional grooming salons feel rushed, loud, or overstimulating, Porchlight offers a quieter, one-on-one alternative.

The Porchlight Approach

Porchlight is built around calm, one-on-one care.

One dog per appointment

  • No cages and no overlapping services

  • Clear, proactive communication about timing and pricing

  • Gentle, patient handling informed by canine behavior

Every appointment is scheduled and paced according to you and your dogs needs.

About the Owner

Porchlight Mobile Dog Grooming is owned and operated by Stephen Alexander.

Stephen brings more than two decades of leadership experience in operations, systems design, finance, and client service, including leadership roles at Doctors Without Borders, KUOW/NPR, and The UN Refugee Agency.

That background supports the discipline, organization, and consistency required to operate a professional mobile grooming business—where safety, timing, and trust matter every day.

Stephen is a lifelong dog parent. You can find his family dog, Sadie, nested right inside the Porchlight logo.

Why Dog Grooming

Stephen came to dog grooming with a clear intention: to build a sustainable, hands-on business that provides direct benefit to dogs and their families.

He has completed formal grooming training through Paragon Pet Grooming School and is a Certified Dog Groomer and Technician. He continues ongoing education and mentorship. His approach emphasizes low-stress techniques, patient handling, and attention to each dog as an individual.
